Carers Advice & Resource Establishment, Sandwell (CARES)

The Carers’ Advice and Resource Establishment, Sandwell (CARES) was established in 1987 to offer information, advice and support to carers within Sandwell and the people they care for.

The organisation has developed and now offers a range of support services to carers. These include:-
- a Telephone Helpline Service for carers offering information and advice
- an Information and Outreach Service offering home visits and outreach surgeries for carers under stress
- a range of Carer Support Groups in different parts of the borough offering emotional and social support to carers
- a specialist unit offering support to Black and Minority Ethnic carers
- a Carer Consultation Network for carers involved in Service Development and Review
- an Adult Guidance and Lifelong Learning Service encouraging carers to return to learn and the world of work

CARES’ mission is to ‘aim to improve the quality of life of all carers in Sandwell by providing relevant information, advice and support’. CARES’ activities seek to meet this identified mission.

Where we do it


CARES offers a free and confidential Information and Advice Service for Carers and the people they care for within Sandwell.

Your team will

Offer advocacy for Carers having difficulty in accessing services from statutory bodies including: getting aids and adaptations, care packages, carers’ assessments and respite
Help you with benefit checks and assist with completing benefit forms and accessing benefits up to appeal level
Refer Carers to other appropriate voluntary or statutory organisations who can offer relevant help and support to Carers

Are you worried about money? … Getting into difficulty with paying your bills?

CARES has a NEW service. We can offer you confidential help and support with your money worries and difficulties.

We understand how difficult it can be to manage your finances when your income is restricted. We can help by looking at your income, look to see if you are on the correct benefits and help you to budget.
