Birmingham Metropolitan College is a further and higher education college with 10 campuses across Birmingham and the Black Country.

Here is a list of the courses we are taking referrals for:

 

Construction Skills

  • Enrolment Wednesday 28th March at 10am or 12pm
  • We have 9 week practical Level 1 courses in Plumbing, Plastering, Electrical Skills and Painting & Decorating, all due to start w/c 30th April
  • Based at the Erdington Skills Centre, Edwards Road, Erdington, Birmingham B24 9EW

CSCS Training

  • 2 day course starts Tuesday 3rd April from Matthew Boulton College
  • Gain Level 1 Health and Safety qualification & get booked onto CITB test
  • Doesn’t include cost of the CSCS card (normally £30)

Rail Engineering (ERG/34475 PRO-193438)

  • Initial Assessment confirmed for Wednesday 4th April at 10am
  • 8 week course covers Level 2 Rail Underpinning Knowledge and practical Track Maintenance diploma
  • Support with PTS card, track induction and sponsorship into work (based on attendance and attitude)
  • Must be Level 1 Literacy

Health and Social Care (ERG/33731 Pro-016432)

  • Initial Assessment Monday 16th April at 9.30am, start date 23rd April
  • 4 week training includes Level 1 Certificate in Care and Employability Skills
  • Includes Level 2 Common Health Conditions qualification
  • Based at Matthew Boulton College

Sigma Financial (SBWA)

  • Initial Assessment on Tuesday 10th April, start date Monday 16th April or Monday 30th April
  • Job involves working in a busy call centre making outbound calls to people in arrears
  • 3 week course to support people into full time Customer Advisor roles, £15.5k p/a
  • 30 people into work since January 2018, 64% success rate
  • Based at Matthew Boulton College
  • Must be Level 1 Literacy and have typing speed 25WPM+

Basic IT Skills for Job search (ERG/33657  Pro-016502)

  • Starts on Monday 23rd April, please call to book onto an initial assessment
  • 2 days a week for 5 weeks (Mondays and Tuesdays)
  • Covers desktop basics, word processing, emailing and job searching using UJM

Horticulture (ERG/27557 Pro-016425)

  • Starts on Monday 23rd April
  • Based at The Study Centre at Botanical Garden, The Study Centre, Westbourne Road, Birmingham B15 3TR
  • 3 days a week for 6 weeks (Monday, Wednesday and Friday)
  • Gain a Level 1 Practical Horticulture Skills qualification

Distance Learning Courses (ERG/34042 PRO-161656)

  • Enrolment on Friday 20th April at 10.30am from James Watt College
  • E-Learning courses, all home based and online, to gain further knowledge of care sector
  • Options include the following:

    • Customer Service Knowledge
    • Certificate in Care and Management of Diabetes
    • Equality & Diversity
    • Learning Disabilities
    • Mental Health
    • Understanding Autism
    • Principles of Dementia Care
    • Understanding End of Life Care
