Positive Youth Foundation

We are a registered charity and social enterprise, established with the purpose of supporting vulnerable young people and communities across the region.

The service has a strong strategic representation across a number of policy objectives including health, education and community engagement.

We deliver developmental programmes, taking positive approaches to help young people experiencing challenging circumstances move forward in their lives. Programmes are delivered seven days of the week, targeting young people either at risk of, or known to be living risky lifestyles.

Our ethos is based upon a strong shared commitment to reaching young people where they are, building relationships of respect and trust, and supporting young people to succeed.

Routes to Ambition

Routes to Ambition gives Young People the boost they need to fulfil their potential, benefiting from support to help them into education, training and jobs.

What does Routes to Ambition offer?

Routes to Ambition will work with young people aged 15- 24 (primarily 15-18) either disengaged, or risk of exclusion, or facing major barriers to employment due to factors such as their health and disability.

Routes to Ambition offer a wide range of support, including:

  • Learning programmes and vocational taster courses;
  • Specialist support to develop self-esteem, build resilience and coping skills, and tackle issues such as substance misuse;
  • Support to develop key life skills;
  • Community-based learning activities at evenings and weekends, with holiday provision in inactive areas;
  • Vocational learning packages in subjects such as hairdressing, childcare, and ICT.

Routes to Ambition will ensure seamless referral routes into Ambition Coventry and other programmes once young people become eligible.

Building Better Opportunities

The Positive Youth Foundation is a delivery partner for an exciting new programme of coaching and support to provide young people across Coventry and Warwickshire who are not in employment, education or training (NEET) and at risk of NEET access training and employment opportunities.

‘Progress’, is a part of ‘Building Better Opportunities’ - a programme funded by the European Social Fund and the Big Lottery Fund to tackle poverty and social exclusion faced by the most disadvantaged people in England. The programme has been designed to help young people aged 15 – 24 improve their chances of employment by offering them coaching support and bespoke activities in order to build skills and confidence and ultimately put them on the right path to a successful future.

Groundwork UK is leading the exciting and diverse partnership of local delivery partners – with support from local councils – which aims to transform the prospects of those young people in Coventry and Warwickshire who most need support.

What we do

Chance to Shine

Our Chance to Shine Street Cricket programme is supported by the English Cricket Board and Warwickshire County Cricket Club.

Our Chance to Shine Street Cricket programme is focused on getting young people in inner-city areas of Coventry to play a fun and quick style of cricket thus using the game to promote social cohesion and create opportunities in diverse communities affected by anti-social behavior and youth crime.

The Chance to Shine Street project is a counter for a lack of clubs and green spaces in inner-city areas and aims to make cricket accessible to young people throughout the country. Our sessions are run in local sports halls and outdoor community MUGA’s where young people can easily access.
