Throughcare Housing & Support

Throughcare Housing & Support (THS) was established on 8th November 2006, we are a ‘Charity Organisation No 1117761’ with the objective of housing & supporting people who have a range of vulnerabilities. These can vary from children seeking asylum, refugees, young expectant mothers or young mothers with babies who need extra support, young people leaving care and young children and/or adults escaping violence, ex-offenders and other homeless vulnerable individuals.

We understand the reality of these and realise the detrimental affects they can have on a person’s life. At THS we know that, unfortunately, these children and/or adults could experience difficulties in society, which could lead to unemployment, poverty, homelessness and exclusion.

By providing the right kind of support and guidance, THS hopes to give them the skills to live independently, to feel comfortable within their environment and to build relationships and feel a sense of community. Our overall priority is to enable those vulnerable people to not only live a better quality of life but to live it proudly.

We are offering a range of housing and support services to underprivileged people across the Midlands, supporting them at any one time. We believe a person or group is vulnerable when support is required to enable or promote independent living with a safe and active participation within the Community.

We care for asylum seeking/Refugee minors aged 16 to 18 living in private residential situations supported 24 hours a day seven days a week by a mixture of key workers and out reach support workers.

Working in relationship with social services we also care for minors coming out of foster care who need initial support in semi-independent living.

What we do

Life is Beautiful” is PRIDE’s ethos and we strongly believe that every woman should feel confident enough to say it, believe it and most importantly, live it.
PRIDE intends to help women victims bridge the gap between being victims and becoming survivors.

The focus on confidence is the thread that runs through our project. By promoting women's independence and confidence, PRIDE hopes to bring an end to the epidemic of violence against women and provide women with role models who demonstrate the enormity of what individual women can achieve.Every day hundreds of thousands of women and children live with domestic violence. As many as one in four women will experience domestic violence during their lifetime and at least two women a week die as a result. Over 750,000 children witness domestic violence every year and desperately need support and protection. Thankfully many will seek help, guidance and support from various domestic violence services across the UK. Midland Homes Throughcare aims to be one of those services.

Domestic violence occurs across society, regardless of age, gender, race, sexuality, wealth, and geography. The figures show, however, that it consists mainly of violence by men against women. Children are also affected. Not only are many traumatised by what they witness; there is also a strong connection between domestic violence, sexual violence and child abuse. It is a violent crime with far reaching consequences for our society.

Whatever form it takes, domestic violence is rarely a one-off incident and should instead be seen as a pattern of abusive and controlling behaviour through which the abuser seeks power over their victim.
Domestic violence is under-reported, but research shows that:

  • Domestic violence accounts for 16% of all violent incidents.
  • One in four women and one in six men will be a victim of domestic violence in their lifetime with women at greater risk of repeat victimisation and serious injury.
  • 77% of those suffering four or more incidents are women.
  • More repeat victims than other crime (average there will be 35 assaults before a victim calls the police)
  • One incident of domestic violence is reported to the police every minute.
  • On average, a current or former male partner kills two women a week.

PRIDE care for women and children living in private residential situations supported 24hours a day seven days a week by a mixture of key workers and out reach support workers.

We are committed to ending violence against women and children by assisting the survivors of violence to regain their confidence and independence. By helping women to achieve a positive self-esteem, PRIDE hopes to empower women to achieve independence, rebuild their lives, regain their dignity and ultimately help end violence within society.
