Newman Health & Wellbeing

In 2016, Newman University launched a new wellbeing service for the community - Newman Health & Wellbeing – operating from the University campus in Bartley Green. Currently offering counselling & psychotherapy, wellbeing training and youth outreach the service seeks to deliver high quality, professionally led and cost effective services.

The Counselling and Psychotherapy service for children works with children as young as three with a wide range of individual emotional, psychological and social stressors. Sessions can either be undertaken within a school setting or at our own building on the Newman University campus which has a suite of therapy rooms including a play therapy room.

The Counselling and Psychotherapy service for adults offers Monday to Friday appointments, with late evening appointments available. Sessions can be undertaken either within the workplace or at our own building.

Our workshops and conferences service aims to improve the health and wellbeing of employees, community groups and others through the provision of a range of wellbeing workshops and conferences. Topics include stress awareness, mindfulness, conflict management – as well as bespoke packages.

Reachout is our innovative street based youth work project which seeks to engage socially excluded young people aged 11 to 19 from Bartley Green in public spaces where they gather.

Overview

What we do

Reach out is an innovative street based youth work project which will engage socially excluded young people aged 11-19 from Bartley Green in public spaces where they gather, such as shopping precincts and parks. Street based youth work specifically targets those who do not access existing provision, so Reachout will be more inclusive than existing providers. Furthermore, street based youth work is well placed to engage young people at risk of offending.
