Cruse Bereavement Care Birmingham

Cruse Bereavement Care exists to promote the well-being of bereaved people and to enable anyone bereaved by death to understand their grief and cope with their loss. Services are free to bereaved people. The charity provides support and offers information, advice, education and training services.

Cruse bereavement Care currently have a number of projects underway such as the Facing the Future partnership with Samaritans to support those bereaved by suicide, the Adfam partnership to support those bereaved through drugs and alcohol and the Early Intervention Project which offers services to individuals identified as being at risk of complicated grief.

Cruse offers a variety of training courses and packages to individuals and companies and organisations such as the one day Bereavement and Awareness training course and the Bereavement in the Workplace course. There is also a variation of internal training for bereavement Volunteers.

Cruse has been in Birmingham since 1977 and is one of the largest branches of Cruse. People refer themselves directly to the service by calling the client line on 0121 687 8010. The service offers telephone and face to face appointments and there is a waiting list due to the high demand for this free service.

What we do

Cruse offers face-to-face, telephone, email and website support. We have a national helpline and local services, and a website and freephone helpline specifically for children and young people. Our services are provided by trained volunteers and are confidential and free. Cruse also provides training and consultancy for external organisations and for those who may encounter bereaved people in the course of their work.

How to access

Grief is a natural process, but it can be devastating. For those who need help, Cruse offers free confidential support for adults and children, and this can be by telephone, email or face-to-face.

Cruse Bereavement Care is here to support you after the death of someone close. If someone you know has died and you need to talk, call us freephone on 0808 808 1677 or email helpline@cruse.org.uk 

The helpline is open Monday-Friday 9.30-5pm (excluding bank holidays), with extended hours on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings, when we’re open until 8pm.
